Two maps, each measuring almost 7.5 ft tall! (89" x 33.5")
This map features seven 1-mile by 1-mile "tile" of aerial photography taken in 1939. The map was designed to reflect a 1930s–1940s aesthetic, the map incorporates period-specific elements, including the Broadway font and an old-style compass rose with rays of light. The border and background were inspired by design techniques from John Nelson’s Esri videos.
This map features a nationwide aerial photography dataset captured in 2024 by Esri and Maxar. Designed with a modern aesthetic, it contrasts sharply with its historical counterpart. The bold, thick title and lettering stand out against a washed-out background. The compass rose is fully exposed, creating a striking contrast between its outer points and the geometric circles that appear to rise across the map. The border was crafted to reflect a contemporary design.
